Who are we?
The Burns Lake Airsoft Association is a group of volunteers who organize airsoft games for the residents of Burns Lake and the surrounding region. Our main goal as an organization is to promote the sport of airsoft in the local area and to maintain a safe environment for players to enjoy this great outdoor activity. Our games are open to the public and anyone aged 10 and up is welcome to come join us, no membership required.
(Ages 10-12 must be supervised by a parent/guardian).
Our History
The Burns Lake Airsoft Association was officially incorporated as a non-profit society in 2018. With the help of Burns Lake Community Forest Ltd we established a game field in Burns Lake just off of Highland Drive, where we have been hosting games for the last five years. While we were originally founded as the Burns Lake Paintball Association, with the rise in popularity of airsoft as a sport, we refocused our efforts in that direction. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we are able to provide low cost rental equipment for new or casual players, and are also able to maintain our field without having to charge field fees.
What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a simulated combat sport utilizing air rifles which fire a small, solid projectile. While the sport itself is similar to paintball, the mechanics of airsoft guns are somewhat different. Airsoft guns come in a variety of different propellants types, such as battery powered, gas blowback, and spring powered. The smaller projectiles allow for more realistic looking weapons, some of which are nearly identical to their real world counterparts.
Realistic looking airsoft guns are subject to certain provincial and federal restrictions. They should be treated with the same care and responsibility as a real firearm, as they can easily be mistaken for a one.
Gameplay usually revolves around a variety of team or solo based activities, like team versus team elimination, capture the flag, VIP escort, attack/defend, assimilation, etc.
